As reported in the New York Times, USA Today and on CBS News, a new peer-reviewed study has found that 80% of baby products with polyurethane foam contain are injected with hazardous chemicals.
This alarming news shows why it’s more urgent than ever that Congress take action to keep children safe from toxic chemicals.
The Safe Chemicals Act of 2011 will help protect children – and the rest of us.
It requires:
* Phase-out of the most dangerous known chemicals
* Testing of new chemicals to make sure they are safe before they are sold to the public
* Disclosure of chemical testing data
Unless Congress acts, chemical companies will continue to put products on the market that are linked to childhood leukemia and brain cancers, breast and testicular cancer, neurological disorders like autism and Alzheimer's, and fertility problems.
Please take a minute NOW to ask your Senators to protect babies and toddlers by co-sponsoring the Safe Chemicals Act.
